Last night I couldn’t sleep at all. If I had known my efforts would go to waste I would have watched it again. Oww man they used the amnesia card. But we ship the couple so everything is okay. I think the first 12 episode were the best, the rest were okay I guess, but as there is a saying all’s well that ends well.

In “I need romance 2” was the first episode in which there was no speculation. And it is perfectly explained it was a fantasy of a script. That’s probably my main criticism. I think one reason why the ending worked for me was because of who I understand AHS and SJ to be as entertainers in general (acting, and for SJ singing as well). Of course I might have just drunk the Kool-aid and be looking at everything with rose-tinted lenses but hear me out. Now that the drama’s had some time to sink in and I’ve found other dramas/ literature that are curing my hangover well, i can write about BP more objectively. It’s great and all, but I really wouldn’t call it a masterpiece or the best drama/romcom out there. I caved in to watch it because of the hype and I thought it was pretty disappointing for me.

Marriage Not Dating: Episode 8

When Ki-tae got drunk and bonded with her dad I was already super satisfied, but then he went on to be such a hilarious drunk! Ki-tae and Jang-mi go to lunch, where she asks him if it bothers him that his ex is paying someone to pry into his personal life. He says that she’s done it before, but he’s sure she won’t use the information against them.

Wrist grabs disturb me and scream “domestic violence!”, but I have accepted that they’re considered romantic in these shows, so I let it go. L have no love lost for Hyun Hee(pity, coz I loved the actress in Let’s Eat) and she, in fact scores lower than Se Ah in my books but I wonder how Jang Mi and Hyun Hee became this close friends. Is MND subverting the sweet and lovable best friend of heroine trope here? And poor Hoon Dong wants to (for the first time, probably) do the ‘right thing’ by marrying her.

We should be adult enough that in Korea there are some things not shown. The drama is really a good one and I appreciate that since they are far and in between. Thanks to the writers and subbers.

Having put the restaurant up for sale, Jang-mi’s dad is pretty drunk on soju by the time they find him, and he roars at Ki-tae for having the nerve to show up here. Ki-tae stammers that he’s dating Jang-mi, which enrages Dad even further, and he shoves Ki-tae against the wall yelling at him for hanging around his daughter but not intending to marry her. I love the pattern of the episodes, where they begin with an incident, and then backtrack to show us how they got there.

Ki-tae doesn’t like what he sees, though Yeo-reum smiles to see that Jang-mi hasn’t become so jaded after all. Jang-mi sighs to see Ki-tae mingling with the other doctors and looking good by Se-ah’s side, but then she perks up when Yeo-reum arrives wearing the suit she picked out. Ha, I love that he always enters a room to a dedicated power strut theme song.

The timeskip didn’t help, and neither did Grandpa’s sudden health issue that went nowhere. I’d have liked to see Grandpa and Ha-ri bonding over karaoke… C’mon, she sang up a storm in ep 1 and surely he would have enjoyed jazzing it up with her!

He was, and still is, incapable of anything but cerebral interactions with others. Such a person manages his affairs with exemplary neatness and efficiency, but staying alone is the only way to maintain it. And he knows it, as he tirelessly professed that all he ever wanted was for the world to leave him alone.

Everything she went through, how she tried to understand Hyeonsu and accepted him over and over again. She’s the real definition of a strong FL, not just someone who shouts ‘Yah! She’s not the annoyingly loud, obnoxious, offensive and borderline abusive FL that we have to tolerate as strong for the sake of women empowerment. It’s gonna be hard because I mighr tend to compare the next FL that I’ll watch to her because she’s gonna be one of my favourites now.
